A FAIR AND BALANCED APPROACH TO THE SHUT-DOWN ORDERS
MAY 18, 2020
The Coronavirus Pandemic has wreck havoc around the world, especially here in the good ole USA. What was once a great and thriving economy, has now turned into a shell of itself due to over 20 million people having lost their jobs and were forced to file for unemployment benefits. Usually when bad things happens like what we're experiencing, people run to cast blame, that is especially true in the political world where political pundits jockey for position to be able to hurt their political enemies with wild accusations and unfounded data.
President Donald Trump has been accused of having moved too slow in terms of his response to the virus, but what the critics fail to say that the American President moved very swiftly to stop travel from and to China as early as the end of January, which was a couple of weeks after the report of the early cases of the Coronavirus infections.
Of course, he was called a racist, which is the mainstream media's favorite pastime, and in the beginning the so-called experts all downplayed the seriousness of the virus, and cast the Administration as simply fear-mongering and alarmists. Well, we soon learned that neither designation was correct, as the Trump administration proved to be correct.
Another factor has been ignored by the MSM. During the time of the invasion of the virus, our Country was busy impeaching our President on bogus charges that he was involved in a Quid Pro Quo, which was utter nonsense! Not a single witness was able to verify that the President tried to do any such thing. So while the President was being impeached, the virus was making its way into the fabric of our country, and now the enemies of our President want to blame him for the death of nearly 90,000 Americans.
So with that background, we saw the Governors across the Country began to issue various phases of what is called "Shut-Down" Orders. It has gone on now for over eight weeks in most places. The citizens are told that they can only leave their homes to go to what is deemed as "essential places" or do what constitutes "essential activity". However, as we've learned through these last few weeks, these orders have not been fair across the board. There are certain stores and organizations that have remained opened to the public and other places have been shut down based on the Governors preferences.
Stores like Walmart, Home Depot, Liquor Stores, Fast Food Restaurants, and even Abortion Clinics have all remained opened, as they are considered "essential places", but going to Church can get you a citation, and even in a few cases, Pastors have been arrested, which is a violation to their First Amendment rights. We are confused in America: We often hear people say: "THERE'S SEPARATION BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE", but amazingly, that only matters when it is convenient for the side of the group that wants their way!
I say let's allow Adults to be Adults! Let's trust people to be safe while they're going to their various places of Worship just as we trust them when they are buying their Liquor and their toilet paper at Walmart. Let's trust the business owners to open their businesses and abide by the standards of the various health and medical authorities as they welcome their customers back.
The time has come to re-open our country! People have to take care of their families and provide for their employees who also have responsibilities for their families. If we can go to the store, buy liquor, go get an abortion, buy cigarettes, we can open our Restaurants, our Salons, beauty shops, barbershops, nail shops, and other legitimate businesses.
The Government CANNOT take care of over 340 million people! Nor is it designed to take care of people long term. Americans are at our best when we are allowed to work and provide for our families. There is a profound sense of dignity that comes with hard work and labor, and most Americans and people in general, appreciate that reality.
Finally, I want to respect people on both sides: those that are fearful and want to stay home, and those that want to re-open the country so that we can get back to the business of building a strong and stable economy. I happen to come down on the side with the latter group. Let's allow Adults to be Adults, and let them get back to work......without denigrating those that want to stay home.
